Director

Anthony Balsamo has a genuine enthusiasm for architecture and design, and his engaging leadership style as Director invites collaboration from all team members and stakeholders. With a positive and inclusive attitude he encourages others to travel the creative journey with him, generating enjoyment in the process as well as the outcome.

His wide-ranging experience across all project stages includes education, health, commercial and public architecture projects, resulting in a capable ‘all-rounder’ approach to new challenges. Recent successes include the Australian Federal Police SA Headquarters, which forged a new design identity for the Adelaide Airport precinct and won a Commendation at the 2013 SA AIA awards. He also led the Public Realm team creating a purposeful and exciting context for the Adelaide Oval precinct, establishing the revitalised facility in its pivotal city/parklands location.

Anthony takes the time to thoroughly understand each client’s business and establish productive ongoing relationships, for tailored design input that lends a competitive edge to client operations. His involvement with the Metropolitan Fire Service resulted in numerous fire station developments but expanded to include input on a high-level overhaul of the station design template and corporate branding.

Professional involvement includes university tutoring and positions on industry bodies such as AIA SA Chapter Council. The RAIA Jack Hobbs McConnell Travelling Fellowship enabled exposure to international trends, and he continues to encourage current research and inspiration.

Anthony has a considered, thoughtful and exploratory approach to design, consistently establishing a guiding philosophy and following it through. He has a genuine interest in sustainable, practical design and an innate commitment to high professional standards and quality outcomes.
